As we grow older, our skin starts to lose much of its youthful plumpness, volume, and glow. Where we once had healthy, vibrant skin, we now have skin that is duller and less full. Fine lines and wrinkles become readily apparent to casual observers as we slowly succumb to the aging process.
The good news is that a remarkable cosmetic product called Juvederm has been developed that can restore much of our skin’s lost vitality and fullness.
The main ingredient in Juvederm is called hyaluronic acid — a substance our bodies produce naturally, but in lower quantities as we age.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that promotes healthy, youthful skin and is naturally produced by the body. Unfortunately, as we age, our bodies produce less and less of this important substance, which helps speed the aging process of the skin.
Hyaluronic acid has a very special property that allows it to act as an internal moisturizer that helps the skin appear plumper with more volume.
When the body produces less hyaluronic acid, the skin loses much of its healthy glow and volume. Juvederm helps correct this imbalance by restoring skin levels of hyaluronic acid, leading to plumper skin.
We use Juvederm injections below the outer skin layer to help minimize moderate to severe wrinkles and folds.
Juvederm can do the following:
* Add volume to folds running from the nose’s bottom to the corners of the mouth
* Minimize “marionette lines” — creases at the corners of the mouth
* Enhance thin lips due to the aging process
Treatment with Juvederm can be expected to last up to one year for minimizing the appearance of nasolabial folds.
Other results depend upon the individual makeup of each client and the area treated. For example, a typical Juvederm lip treatment will only be effective for about six months because there is more blood flow in that part of the face.
If a patient feels they need a touch-up, it can be performed as needed after their previous treatment.
Juvederm is Different
Juvederm is different from other types of dermal fillers in some important ways. It is the sole dermal filler using hyaluronic acid that lasts up to a year.
The results are also long-lasting because of the unique manufacturing process that creates high quality cross-linked hyaluronic acid in a high concentration.
The gel flows very easily into the skin to offer a smoother, more natural look and feel. Other dermal fillers that use hyaluronic acid have a more granular consistency.
